Watching the disintegration of U.S. society from my home in Mexico, I am horrified by the repression and violence of the police state, while energized and inspired by the Black Lives Matter and immigration rights movements taking to the streets to demand justice. The tragic deaths of Amaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd and countless others are heartbreaking and intolerable. As a muralist, I believe in the artist’s right and responsibility to speak up for human rights and social justice, using their medium as a tool to bring about revolution. Although the current pandemic has prevented me from returning to the U.S. for the time being, I continue to use the medium of illustration to work for change.

Ahora, como en el año 2020, estamos viviendo una época inédita en todo el mundo. En los Estados Unidos se está violentando de una manera extrema e injusta los derechos de las poblaciónes afroamericana, Latina y otros. La prensa y las medias sociales nos informan de actos racistas y criminales  en contra de estos grupos instigados por el gobierno. La violencia es indignante e injustificable y esto ha llevado a la gran mayoría de la población Norteamericana a crear un movimiento de Resistencia.

Esta realidad no me es ajena, algunas de las víctimas han sido familiares cercanos de amigos mios, y a pesar de la distancia, me identifico con el sufrimiento, y rechazo y condeno estos actos de discriminación racial. Los asesinatos de Amaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor, George Floyd y tantos otros son angustiantes e imperdonables. Esta obra es parte de una serie que he ejecutado en solidaridad con el movimiento de resistencia actual en los estados Unidos, y es parte de un movimiento internacional de artistas que estamos levantando la voz.
